Oana Giurgiu

Oana Giurgiu has extensive experience as a producer of tens of film, television programs, music videos and events. She also founded Transilvania International Film Festival together with director Tudor Giurgiu and film critic Mihai Chirilov.

She was part of the team that launched Romania's first music television channel, Atomic TV, and has worked on organizing various music, fashion, and extreme sports events.

Oana began her film career in 2004 as the location manager for The Death of Mr. Lăzărescu, directed by Cristi Puiu, which won the Un Certain Regard award at the 2005 Cannes Film Festival. She continued her collaboration with Cristi Puiu as the executive producer of Sieranevada, which was presented in competition at the 2016 Cannes Film Festival.

She made her directorial debut with the feature-length historical documentary Aliyah DaDa, which premiered in 2015 and won Best Romanian Documentary at the 2015 GOPO Awards.

 

Oana recently produced Libertate (Freedom, 2024) directed by Tudor Giurgiu and the Moromeții series, directed by Stere Gulea – out of which Moromeții 2 won nine awards at the 2019 GOPO Awards, including Best Film.
